Cette initiative s’inscrit dans la dynamique nationale de préservation de l’environnement et de lutte contre les effets du changement climatique. Pour les responsables municipaux, la Journée nationale de l’arbre demeure un moment privilégié de sensibilisation à l’importance du reboisement et à la responsabilité de chaque citoyen dans la protection des ressources naturelles.

La cérémonie a été marquée par une forte mobilisation des acteurs locaux. Agents municipaux, membres des Comités de Développement de Quartier (CDQ), organisations communautaires et habitants ont participé à la mise en terre des premiers plants, témoignant ainsi de leur adhésion à cette démarche écologique.

Au total, 160 jeunes plants de gaïac ont été plantés sur le site retenu pour le lancement officiel. Cette essence a été choisie pour ses qualités environnementales et sa capacité à contribuer à l’amélioration du cadre de vie urbain.

Les autorités communales indiquent toutefois que cette opération ne constitue qu’une première étape. La campagne se poursuivra durant tout le mois de juin sur plusieurs autres sites identifiés à travers le territoire de Golfe 1 afin d’accroître l’impact des actions de reboisement.
